New York Fashion Week will be here before you know it. And over the next few weeks, weekends will be spent prepping wardrobes and packing suitcases. For me, it's always touch and go whether I am going to be able to sneak away for a weekend, but the plan for now is to be in attendance. So with positive vibes being sent all around, my sights are set on volume, rhinestones and whimsical accessories. Overdo, overdone and overwhelmed. Fashion Week is the bi-annual time of year where the glitterati are universally out and about, attempting to look flawless and glamorous while internally harboring stress and feelings of "There's no way I can be downtown in 30 minutes," all with a half smile and sultry pout permanently placed.

As much as I would love to be the Los Angeleno blissfully sitting in seat accessorized to the hilt - complete with neon headphones (see below) - only to emerge from the airport terminal perfectly clad and well-rested, that is no reality I know. Despite best laid plans (which generally involve heels, some cute ensemble and chic sunglasses), I generally end up switching footwear at least three times, cursing at the man who won't let me take my carry-on on the plane, and practicing yoga positions en-flight to attempt to find some body contortion that results in me getting any kind of rest. All of this further results in a rat's nest conveniently located on my head, wrinkles that make wrinkled silk of the 90's look good, and blisters the size of moons. Surprisingly, this never frees me from the illusion that one day I am going to get it right. And with editorials like this one out for your viewing pleasure (thank you Elle Poland!), who am I to doubt that it can actually be done? A girl can dream....
