i made you a mix tape

As a child of the 80's, making mix tapes for friends was a large part of my youth.  Living life like it was an 80's movie always required the perfect soundtrack, which often resulted in me recording tracks straight from the radio onto a cassette. Always trying to perfectly time pressing the record button to when the track started so as to limit the amount of DJ chitter-chatter you got between songs. I know it's hard to imagine a time before CD's, Pandora and Spotify, but try...

Oh the mix tape. The perfectly planned-out mix of songs for all occasions and recipients.  The prom mix.  The BFF mix. The "How-to-say-I-have-a-giant-crush-on-you-without-actually-having-to-say-it" mix. I even used to make mix CD's for my roommate in college to attempt to drag her out of high school and edumicate her on the underground Austin music scene (which, looking back, is not actually that underground). There was/is no better gift.  And since you are my friends, with that in mind, I made you a little mix-tape for the month of January. The soundtrack to my life...for now. Katie, this one is for you. Please stop listening to Biggie and listen to the below. You can thank me later. As for the rest of you, feel free to drop music suggestions (I am always looking for something new) in the comments.
